Best Hair Extensions in NJ
Best hair extension methods
If you have ever worn any type of hair extensions, you know how they can instantly transform your look. If you have only worn clip-in hair extensions then you may have some hesitation when it comes to semi-permanent extensions. Semi-permanent extensions are most requested at hair salons around the world. Some may think that these hair extensions are damaging and cost too much so they only wear clips. The truth is, semi-permanent are affordable and non-damaging and if put in your hair properly, can change your look entirely. If you’re in or around Hillsborough, NJ, and are thinking about hair extensions, call us to set up an appointment to discuss methods, types and cost.
The benefits of having semi-permanent hair extensions are that you won’t have the extra weight of bulky clip extensions. You can also swim and workout in them. They are great if you are going on vacation or getting married looking for add volume to your existing hair. They will allow you to wear them for a month at a time and have a fabulous head of hair.
At Legends Salon of Hillsborough, we use keratin-bond extensions. They are tiny strands of real, virgin (unprocessed) human hair. You will come into the salon ahead of time so that your stylist can match your color. The extensions will look like your own hair but with a keratin-based dried “glue” at one end. They can be curled, dyed, straightened and styled with heat. Essentially everything you’d do to your own hair can be done with extensions. In order to attach them, heat fuses the keratin “glue” to your own hair. The extensions are placed in rows so that they always remain strategically covered by another piece of hair, even when you are wearing a ponytail.
Extensions are installed while your hair is dry and in sections at a time. They are placed about a ½ inch away from your root and are fused onto your hair. The entire process takes between one and two hours and is finished with a blowout and dry cut in order to ensure the extensions are layered and evened out to perfection.
Hair extensions typically last three to four months. If they are left in longer, regrowth of your own hair starts to tangle and can cause breakage to your own hair. They must be professionally removed and replaced before it gets to that point. Do not attempt to remove on your own. Keratin bonds must be dissolved with a solution that your professional has experience doing. By trusting in a professional for removal of the extensions, you won’t lose more than a few strands of your own hair through the process.
You have many choices when it comes to hair extensions and where you have them done. Our biggest advice to you is to figure out what will best work with your lifestyle and don’t skimp on professional experience. Choosing extensions that don’t work with your ability to care for them, for example, will leave you disappointed and possibly damaged hair. And going with anyone who doesn’t have experience in applying extensions could be disastrous for your hair.
