Hair ornaments. Hairnaments! We put ornaments on our tree, why not put some in your hair? Here are some ideas:
Repurpose old neckties or bow ties into a hair band. This look can be worn down or as an updo. The look that keeps on giving just like the holiday season. Take a necktie and tie it around your head like a headband. Turn the section where you tied together to the back of your head and under your hair. Leave the ends hanging for a unique look. Bow ties, if they are big enough can be work just like a headband. If you cannot get the band around your head, take a simple headband and hot glue the tie to it. Instant headband using something you may already have around the house!
Necklaces in your jewelry box that haven’t seen the light of day in decades can be used for the perfect necklace embellished down do. Place an old necklace right on top of your hair like a crown. Use bobby pins to secure in place. Used necklaces that can lie flat and have tons of sparkle and shine to achieve that fun holiday look. Even the right necklace with less bling can be worn any time of the year to achieve this look at other times, not just the holidays.
We all have tons of brooches lying around the house whether they were passed on from an older family member or purchased when pins were in fashion (think 1980s and 1990s). Simply find one you like and secure it in your hair like a barrette. Use bobby pins to secure in place.
Simple spools of ribbon can be used in many ways for your holiday hair. If you have thin ribbon (1/8 to ¼ inches) weave it into a braid into your hair for extra pizzazz!
