Wedding Styles

Are you tying the knot sometime soon?

You’ve probably started plotting out your hair & makeup looks for your wedding day. Although you’ve probably already found a few stylists and makeup artists whose work you admire, there are some key questions to ask before making any commitments. We’ve compiled a list of must-asks for your beauty professionals—browse our guide and don’t be afraid to ask, ask, ask before booking an appointment!

1. Will you do a trial run with me before my wedding?

Your beauty professionals should absolutely agree to a trial appointment before your wedding. The trial should take place at least a couple of months before the big day in case you don’t work well together and you need to find a different hairstylist or makeup artist. Ask your professionals if they’re willing to test out more than one look at the trial run, and find out when you will be expected to pay a deposit.

2. Do you work on location?

Perhaps you wouldn’t mind having your hair and makeup done at a salon on your wedding day, but for many brides, it’s preferable to have the professionals come to you. If you’re staying in a hotel with all of your bridesmaids, for example, ask your hairstylist and makeup artist if they’re willing to work at your location on the day of your wedding.

3. Do you want to see photos of hair and makeup looks I like? What about photos of my wedding dress, decor, venue or other inspiration?

To help hairstylists and makeup artists get a sense of the wedding style you want to achieve, ask if they’d like to see your bundles or pin boards before they begin plotting out your beauty look.
